The John F. Nicoll Pipe Band holds full band practices each Thursday evening from 7:30 - 9pm at the Towson American Legion Hall, 125 York Road, Towson, MD 21204.  Pipers are encouraged to show at 7pm to begin warming up.

The band spends time each week developing unison playing, learning new material, and practicing marching drills.  A majority of the practices are devoted to practicing on pipes and drums, although practice chanter and drum pad practices are sometimes instituted.  A portion of time prior to each band practice is dedicated to student instruction.  Our pipers and drummers strive for excellence in tuning, technique & musicianship, without forgetting to have fun.

Pipers and drummers with the John F. Nicoll Pipe Band are required to demonstrate mastery of three of the band's performance sets prior to drawing a uniform and performing with the band.  The band supplies uniforms to all band and Colour Party members, instruments to drummers, and matched chanters & reeds to pipers.

The John F. Nicoll Pipe Band is enthusiatically recruiting new pipers & drummers.  We invite any interested person, regardless of experience level, to attend practice to become a valued member of our successful organization.
